Gert-Jan Hassing successfully defends his PhD thesis titled ‘Feasibility of interpreting blinded pharmacodynamic data - normal variations in healthy subjects’

We are proud to announce that our colleague Gert-Jan Hassing successfully defended his PhD on the 23rd of April 2024 at Leiden University.

Gert-Jan's PhD thesis was entitled ‘Feasibility of interpreting blinded pharmacodynamic data - normal variations in healthy subjects’. The work presented in his thesis describes the research performed at CHDR in collaboration with our colleagues at Amsterdam University Medical Center. The thesis entails clinical studies on the interpretation of data in blinded early drug development studies, which occurs frequently for instance during dose-escalation decisions. As such, it marks our contribution to use the right tools for drug development and the indispensable (academic) collaborations that CHDR maintains. We believe this is the way forward in translational research to advance clinical pharmacology and ultimately towards improved patient care.

The thesis was supervised by dr M.J.B. (Michiel) Kemme and dr P. (Pim) Gal as co-promotors and prof. dr J. (Koos) Burggraaf. We are grateful to the members of the opposition committee. The thesis is available here, and if you are interested in discussing this further do not hesitate to contact us (bd@chdr.nl).
