CHDR has opened a new clinical research unit in Enschede, marking a significant step in expanding our research capabilities and strengthening collaborations in Twente’s thriving medtech ecosystem.

Today, CHDR celebrated the official opening of CHDR Twente, our newest clinical research unit located at Medisch Spectrum Twente in Enschede. This milestone reflects CHDR’s commitment to advancing clinical research and fostering innovation in a region known for its strong medtech profile and academic partnerships.

The day began with a symposium themed “Data as a Goldmine”, featuring thought-provoking presentations by:

  • Prof. Robert Rissmann on multimodal data collection in dermatological research

  • Prof. Boudewijn Lelieveldt on advanced data analysis and AI in biomedical imaging

  • Dr. Femke Nijboer on the power of storytelling in science and healthcare

Following the symposium, the new unit was officially opened with speeches from Roelof Bleker, Miriam Vollenbroek-Hutten, Jouke Tamsma, and Wieteke Numan. Guests then toured the facilities, guided by Rozemarije Holewijn, Director of CHDR Twente, who shared the ambitions for the site.

Together with Medisch Spectrum Twente and the University of Twente, CHDR aims to accelerate the development of innovative medical technologies and improve drug development efficiency, particularly in neurology and pain management. This new unit strengthens Twente’s research and innovation cluster and supports our mission: to develop better medicines for patients.
